Colophon

I wanted this site to stay as light as possible, which is not obvious when half the pages have to run shaders in real time. So I kept it static and native wherever I could: Astro generates the pages, the articles are written in MDX, and there is no UI framework, no webfonts, no analytics. The live shaders run on raw WebGL rather than a rendering library, and the only real dependencies are CodeMirror for the editable code blocks and KaTeX for the equations. The shader previews, the steppers and the home page canvas are components I wrote for this site.

The format itself, a short explanation followed by a running example you can edit, comes from The Book of Shaders by Patricio Gonzalez Vivo and Jen Lowe. I learned a lot from it, and being able to change a value and see the result immediately is still the thing that taught me the most.

When a snippet comes from someone else, whether it's a tutorial, a Shadertoy shader or another developer's implementation, it's credited on the spot.

About AI: English isn't my first language, so I use it as a proofreader and to help me phrase things. It also assists me when I write code, to a degree I honestly can't always measure after the fact.
